VILLA M
Interior design of private Dalmatian villa, Croatia 2014
There are always new ways in recreating and reinventing a look from another decade. An essential part of the Art Deco style was evoking drama and grandeur of the silver screen of movies and entertainment into your home.
Early Hollywood used neutral color palettes but combined them with shiny fabrics, lighting that was subdued and an abundance of soft material that were luxurious for the eye and the touch.
In Villa M, however, we combine this elegance with contrasting materials and finishes: Ceilings and stairs are of bare, raw concrete and traditional black cast iron.
The style of Art Deco was also characterized by bold outlines, geometric patterns and zigzag forms.
In Villa M, cubistic patterns are a regular decoration feature as well, yet in a modernized way of presenting them: Handwoven cubistic wall coverings made from natural plant fibers and oak parquet blocks sawn and laid in an inspired geometrical pattern.
